Sketch your Cake at Bathers' Pavilion

SKETCHyourCAKE (and eat it too)

March 29, 2012 by ErinHill Sketching

Now a regular event every second month. It’s a great chance for foodies to learn to sketch fabulous dishes quickly. It’s just 2 hours and because the display is right there in front of us, we will learn very fast how to observe and get it on paper.Somehow knowing you’ll soon be eating that exquisite morsel is a great incentive to sketch at high speed. Bookings Erin 0412 141 223 / erin@erinhill.com.au I’m suggesting watercolour pencils over the black line […]

Sketch Your Cake

March 23, 2012 by ErinHill Sketching

I’m onto food sketches at the moment. Wasn’t planning this one, but I’d been checking a boating location for my Sketch Class nearby ( from where I did a sketch ) however – we always complete the class in a cafe. I like Three Beans just round the corner from where I’d been (bean) and took a street side table. The coffee was my first of the day so that got ordered before the waiter even opened his mouth. So, […]

Desert at Bather's - Alissa

One Very Sketchable Dessert by 3 Sketchers

March 18, 2012 by ErinHill Sketching

I’m very thrilled to show you what Alissa and Liz did in that silent 5 minutes. When you see the 3 very different approaches, you’ll know what is so exciting about sketching, and each one tells a story. Each of us has a style of sketchpad we favour, and the pens we choose are very much another area of deep conversation. Then of course each of us records in our own individual style – which is soooo interesting when you […]

Desert at Bather's Pavilion with friends

A Very Sketchable Dessert

March 17, 2012 by ErinHill Sketching

It was a most delightful evening with two dedicated Sketcher friends. I’m talking SERIOUSLY dedicated. Every day a sketch or 3. International Symposiums. Sketching kit always in their handbags. You see what I mean!! Guess who forgot hers!! This was Alissa and Liz who hadn’t seen my exhibition at Bather’s Pavilion. We’d therefore decided to make a night of it which we surely did. It was so wonderful having such intense conversation about every possible aspect of sketching. How it differs […]

The famous Harry de Wheels Pie Cart

The Famous Harry de Wheels Pie Cart

March 11, 2012 by ErinHill Sketching

Managed to get to Sketch Club today. I can do the Sunday ones if all the stars are aligned. This was a very appealing place to sketch. Everyone met in front of the Art Gallery NSW and trotted down the steps to Woolloomooloo. How about that for a place name! It’s aboriginal but I need to look up the meaning – sometime. The idea was to sketch any of the subjects along the old restored wharf with it’s line up […]

A Very Stylish Affair

March 7, 2012 by ErinHill Sketching

Oh they put on a 5 Star Opening at The Bather’s Pavilion. Between 6.30 and 8.30 the invited guests cruised up the grand staircase to the exhibition upstairs. Da daaa. Those who’d been before knew that if they went up the far stairs, they’d get their first glass before coming round to be greeted. The staff had the wines chilled, glasses ready. A Clearview Sparkling Chardonnay, or Semillon, and for those who prefer a red, V3 2007 Cabernet/Shiraz.  These from […]

It’s Up and Hanging

March 2, 2012 by ErinHill Sketching

Well it’s done. The paintings are hung. The exhibition is ready. At The Bather’s Pavilion Balmoral Beach. So glad the Opening isn’t till Tuesday night. Time to tweek anything that needs it. I will even arrive refreshed and ready to rock n roll. It rained all day but the paintings were already in the storeroom. Somehow having the best coffee available downstairs means I’m very happy. I admit I had a moment as I carried the last of the paintings […]
