International Sketchcrawl – Cockatoo Island Sydney

April 21, 2012 by ErinHill Sketching

It was Sketch Club and International Sketchcrawl day. At last I had a Saturday free, and I could take part. The day dawned with a complete fog-out. My biggest concern was that the ferry would be able to see it’s way across to the city and over to the island. Yes it could see just fine, so Ethna and I hopped on a fairly early one and made our way there, holding off having coffee till we had arrived. The […]

Temples of Exquisite Food

April 19, 2012 by ErinHill Sketching

Part of the pleasure of eating beautiful food, is the surrounds you are in. Atmosphere is a large part of setting of the scene. The colour. The decor.  The table setting. The sounds. The feeling. The mood . The greeting. The view. The aroma. The anticipation. The menu. People arriving. I like being at a table and silently observing what’s going on. Seeing people arrive. Being seated. Their response. How they relate. How they respond when their food arrives. It’s great being […]

Sketching is serious business

Cake Sketching is Very Serious

April 17, 2012 by ErinHill Sketching

It was so wet outside we could barely see the beach through the window. Mono colour. Soft blues/greys. Umbrellas. But we were inside and cosily seated in the Red Room at our big table, at Bathers’ Pavilion. Very happily. Our tiered stands of offerings were being placed before each guest, and a moment’s silence ensued. Ethna bravely started on the whole stand, and it worked beautifully. Therese did the same then decided to do individual sketches and then eat each […]

Easter Saturday Sketch at Botanical Gardens

April 8, 2012 by ErinHill Sketching

We decided that the last Saturday of term should be a bit of an outing for everyone one to join in. Luckily the weather was not the usual Easter downpour, but a blue day with plenty of sun. Off we went on the ferry and made our way to the – where else – the cafe. A good meeting point for the others within the Botanical Gardens. This was a great group of enthusiasts and all found a multitude of […]

Boating Club Houses

April 6, 2012 by ErinHill Sketching

Went to see how close one could get to the yachts moored on the bay. The class would be doing a nautical theme this week as one of the girls is a sailor. I try to pick subjects which the sketchers relate to. We would start with the Manly ferry while it was at the wharf for 10 mins, then do something similar to above. Decided it wasn’t working to go right onto the club houses so stood here by […]
