My Sketch Art Tours are very personal and you’ll enjoy every moment.   I take you to locations such as cafes, villages, bookshops, corners, bridges, canals & barges etc which appeal to me when I’m travelling. We sketch, we chat, we stop for coffee, we have lots of laughs. It’s a lot of fun. It’s like being with friends.

I teach you to Travel Sketch.

This is for artists of all abilities, ( even for people who say they have no talent! ) If you’d love to travel ( but with like-minded people) and record the things that appeal as you go, then this is for you. You will return with a wonderful sketchbook journal of your personal experiences, notes and memories.

Come on your own or with partner or friends. I will be tutoring as we go, and there is no pressure at any time.

You need an average level of fitness, as we do a lot of looking around and exploring. Sometimes we may walk or catch metros, sketching as we go. In South of France we’ll be walking between villages, sketching and enjoying fruit from the fig trees, almonds, olives, cherries, grapes and wild aromatic herbs . Other days we’ll be among Roman ruins, a hilltop village, a vineyard, a cemetery, and much more. All fantastic sketch locations.

Sketching means just a sketch book and some pens,mini watercolour set  and watercolour pencils in your bag, and is done at any moment you see an appealing scene. ( see picture of what to bring under ‘Travel Sketch Classes’ in the menu bar )  Just a few lines and there you have it. I’ll help you add a dash of colour to complete the sketch. It’s as you see it, in a style all of your own. If you’ve never sketched before you’ll be hooked.

If you are an experienced painter, you’ll enjoy gathering material for later works.

If you prefer to paint, bring smaller pads, paints etc so that everything is portable as we move around. The locations will inspire artists of all abilities, working in any medium.

A reminder will be sent when the balance of payment is due, which is 90 days before departure.

Other info

• Week 1 Paris: We meet at 3pm in the foyer of  our Hotel, Les Jardins du Marais on Monday 10 September. This gives you time to check in if arriving that day, meet the others and have a relaxed first day sketch in the hotel gardens. Some of you arrive before the start day, and I’m happy to have some informal sketches with you.

• Each morning we meet at 10am in the hotel foyer and go sketching till 12.30. Lunch in a little bistro will be an hour or so, then we’ll sketch till about 4pm. You are welcome to make your own plans for the rest of the day, but we can have dinner together if you like.
•  We leave on Sunday morning, 16 September, for Orly Airport for an Easyjet flight to Toulouse. We will leave the hotel at 8am for a 10am flight.

• Week 2 South of France:  If you are coming from another city to meet us in Toulouse, please be there by midday. This is really important as we’ll be driving to our village from there. You may choose to arrive in Toulouse and stay a night or two prior if you wish. Just take a taxi from the city to the airport by midday on September 16.

• Each day after a buffet breakfast, we gather at 10am and head off to our location of the day. We  have a picnic lunch with us, which we’ll have about 12.30. More exploring and sketching till 3.30pm and back home by 4pm. We meet in the garden of La Bergerie to see what we discovered that day. A drink before dinner will be very relaxing, then a beautiful dinner will be served and you can spend your time as you wish.

• At the end of the week,  we will leave the village after breakfast, at 9am sharp. We will be driving to Toulouse airport by 11am, where you will have your own arrangements organised.

Please don’t feel any pressure to sketch if you’d rather explore and just watch the clouds go by. But sketching is addictive! Once you’ve got the idea there’ll  be no stopping you.
