Classic Oz Day Group

Sketch Club – Oz Day Picnic

January 27, 2011 by ErinHill Sketching

Loved this big guy, beer in hand, loudly giving his mates his opinion on everything. Probably about Not changing the flag design – big issue here – because what would we all wear next Australia Day. Not that any of them were taking any notice. Everyone is checking out the goings-on somewhere else. ‘Ave another beer mate. More sketches to come,  I’ll try to hurry. No Sketch Club this weekend so I’ll get a minute then. She’ll be right. Yes we […]

OceanCare Day, Manly

Sketching at Manly’s OceanCare Day

December 5, 2010 by ErinHill Sketching

We were so lucky with the weather. Apparently it was to rain all week and it sort of has been. But not today. The Manly Environment Centre does an annual celebration of the Ocean. So today everyone who cares about our survival was here to show it. I was asked by well known Manly artist Angela van Boxtel, if I would represent the Sydney Sketch Club and draw on location. Angela is organiser of many community Art Events so […]

Beginning Fairlight Beach Acrylic

Next Experimental Painting

August 31, 2010 by ErinHill Sketching

I have a Vlaminck page in a sketchbook of drawings and reference I’d collected, and decided to have a crack at this style. His is of trees and a house, but no matter, mine is based on some photos I did along the beach walk, so not much similarity there!. It’s the colours he used I loved, and then big black lines all over it to define the shapes of things. I taped up the painting block, and began putting […]

Vival Supermarche & Vide Grenier

Vide Grenier (Clear out your Attic)

June 14, 2010 by ErinHill Sketching

Normally the little main street of Trausse is quiet. People would be getting their bits and pieces and baguettes from the only supermarche in town, passing and greeting one another in the polite way of the French. Today was Vide Grenier and everyone was excited. A yearly chance to empty out the attic and a chance pick up someone else’s unwanted treasures. The main street was bursting with stalls the whole way along. An unbelievable sight. Marilyn and Steve were […]

Milton not gardening

After the Gardening

April 21, 2010 by ErinHill Sketching

He deserved this. Milton loves to reward himself with a little lie in the sun. The sun lounger had been in an excellent spot for months, but now the sun wasn’t reaching there. We’d been trimming, sweeping, adding mulch and generally getting a sweat up. The sun now reaches a small slightly higher area in the garden, where there’s a round glass topped table – which weighs a ton. Next to this was where the sun lounger would have to […]

Before the Day Begins

Before the Day Begins

March 31, 2010 by ErinHill Sketching

I like to start the day with a nice cup of tea. Cups of tea are always nice, or so the saying goes. This was Sunday morning. No deadlines, things to do, places to be. So I set my nice cuppa tea down on the little round table outside, and drifted into thought. My mind began to see the pot plant and cup and the cast shadow of the rising morning sun, and wanted me to go and get my […]
